To become a passionate software tester, you need to spend time with software testers that are better than you. This post is based on a remarkable book written by Chad Fowler, The Passionate Programmer.
To become better in something, you must be with people that are better than you in doing that thing. Maybe they are smarter, or they are in that thing for many years, or they just know much more about that topic.
How to apply that on software testing?
Go to local software testing meetup. Talk to people that gave a talk. Or if you are introvert, just listen to their conversation with other people. Elevate this advice to local or international software testing conference. TestBash is all over the world, making it affordable for many testers. Or pick up a software testing event by your choice. Follow prominent tester’s blog posts.
To practice testing with testers that are better than you, you should join some of the open-source projects, Mozilla is one example.
When you test with smart people, they push the best of you. You could pick their style of testing, or you can learn some neat tricks that would make you passionate tester. As you elevate, do not stop with finding to work with better inspectors than you.
